How can anti-discrimination efforts and equal opportunities be actively promoted at universities? In the keynote “Diversity in the Lecture Hall? Counteracting Discrimination at Universities” on Thursday, 8 May 2025 at 5:00 p.m., author and speaker Anna Mendel will address challenges and solutions for tackling discrimination in academic settings. The keynote will be followed by an open discussion. Additionally, the DAAD Prize will be awarded to an international student for outstanding academic achievements and exceptional commitment. Admission is free.

How can you get involved internationally and get to know other cultures? The International Fair on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2 p.m. in the Festsaal of the Studierendenwerk offers answers. University groups, student initiatives and international institutions will introduce themselves, international students will present their culture and the program will include information stands, short presentations, creative contributions and delicious tastings. You can also look forward to a photo exhibition on the “My stay abroad” competition, followed by an awards ceremony. Admission is free.

How is climate change perceived across borders and generations? In the EPICUR exhibition “Climate Change – International Perspectives from Young and Old” on Thursday, 8 May 2025 at 12 p.m. on Kronenplatz in Karlsruhe, students from the Karlsruhe district present the results of their international Citizen Science project. The project explores sociological questions through surveys and interviews. Visitors are invited to join the conversation, share their views on climate change, and learn from the young researchers. Admission is free.

How can successful collaboration in an international context be achieved? The Eucor Workshop “Working Successfully in an Intercultural Dialogue” on Tuesday, 13 May 2025 at 12:30 p.m. focuses on strengthening intercultural skills for everyday work in the German-French-Swiss border region. Following a shared lunch, interactive exercises and exchange formats will take center stage. The workshop will be held in German and French. Admission is free, registration is required.

How do unconscious thought patterns influence our decisions in everyday university life? In the workshop “Unconscious bias at university - how cognitive biases influence our decisions” on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 10 a.m., everyday shortcuts in thinking and their effects on our interactions will be discussed. Participants will learn to recognize unconscious biases and reflect on them with practical approaches in everyday (working) life.

In the panel discussion “Cooperation in Transition - Opportunities and Risks of International Collaboration” on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the foyer of the Presidential Building (Building 11.30), experts will discuss the opportunities and risks of international university cooperation. Topics include strategic partnerships, existing alliances in times of geopolitical tensions and the future of international cooperation. The event will be held in English. Admission is free.
