Overview

KIT is actively linked to several European countries through strategic partnerships and academic alliances. It promotes mobility through initiatives such as ERASMUS+ and participates in networks such as Eucor and the European University Alliance EPICUR, to which KIT and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) belong. Bilateral cooperation includes a long-standing partnership with Bulgaria, where the Technical University of Sofia (TU Sofia) has been offering a degree program based on the KIT engineering model for almost 20 years. Talks are currently underway to intensify cooperation in the field of technology management. KIT is also linked to Hungary through energy and climate research initiatives and is working with the University of Szeged on projects such as Energy Lab 2.0. In Greece, a Memorandum of Understanding with AUT aims to expand joint research and teaching, including dual doctoral and master's degree programs. KIT's relations with France include Franco-German double degree programs and partnerships such as the International Dark Matter Research Laboratory (IRL), while Eucor activities connect KIT with institutions throughout the Upper Rhine region, including Strasbourg and Basel.

Note: Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, KIT has broken off all institutional cooperation. All projects, collaborations and exchange programs with Russian research institutions and universities have been put on hold. As part of the German Research Foundation, KIT shows strong solidarity with Ukraine and is determined to strengthen contacts and cooperation with Ukrainian partners at all levels.
