Presentation of the first “International Excellence Award” and the “Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation” to top Indian researcher Thalappil Pradeep. KIT looks forward to further cooperation with the awardee in the coming year

In a festive ceremony in the Senate Hall on Monday, November 27, 2023, Vice President Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth and Chairwoman of the SCHROFF Foundation Susanne Schroff presented the first “International Excellence Award” and the “Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation” to the renowned chemist Prof. Dr. Thalappil Pradeep from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras for his excellent and globally influential research. The presentation of the “International Excellence Award” includes an invitation for a further research stay at KIT of up to six months. In their opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Hirth, Susanne Schroff and Prof. Dr. Kappes from the Institute of Physical Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology praised Pradeep’s scientific achievements: Thanks to his groundbreaking research at IIT Madras in the field of molecular and nanoscale materials, millions of people in India can now benefit from sustainable and affordable access to clean drinking water, which has been cleaned of pollutants using nanochemical-based water filters. In a subsequent talk, the awardee himself reported on his research. The program was rounded off with musical accompaniment followed by drinks and refreshments. Read more in the official press release.
