
The Graduate School of Humanities at the University of Freiburg invites you to the interdisciplinary doctoral symposium at the Lienmannhaus on November 20, 2025. Doctoral candidates from the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences are welcome to present their projects in 15-minute talks followed by a discussion. Presentations may be given in either German or English. Applications including an abstract (max. 100 words) and a short biographical note should be submitted by October 2, 2025, to weertje.willms@germanistik.uni-freiburg.de.

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) is offering fellowships for the 2026/27 academic year. Researchers from all disciplines who hold a doctoral degree can apply for Early Career Fellowships (4–10 months), Senior Fellowships (3–8 months), and a Sustainable Governance Fellowship (6 months) for researchers from African institutions. The application deadline is September 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. (CEST).

The German-French summer campaign for young people is entering its second round in 2025. People under 28 from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland can use their tickets to travel on regional trains in the Grand Est region and to Paris, while French youth can take advantage of the same offer in Germany. Long-distance and inner-city public transport trains are excluded, and free reservations are required on certain sections of the route.

Students and alumni of KIT who have studied abroad or spent time at KIT as guests can participate in the video competition “My International Days 2025.” Participants are invited to submit a creative video (40–60 seconds) in German or English on one of the two topics: “Why international experience?” or “KIT and Karlsruhe for international students.” The submission deadline is June 30, 2025. Up to four Interrail/Eurail passes can be won.
