 7th Forum on Franco-German Research Cooperation

Since 2002, the French Ministry MESRI and the BMBF have organized a forum that brings together scientific experts from both countries, as well as actors from the higher education and research sectors, in order to reach an agreement on the strategies and priorities of the research and innovation policies of Germany and France. This time, the forum took place in Paris on December 9, 2022.

 Autonomous driving - magic or sensoric?

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 6.30 p.m., the KFG University Club will take place at the Gastdozentenhaus (Campus South, bldg. 01.52). Highly competent speakers (Professor Dr. Eric Sax, ITIV; Axel Gern, CEO Torc EU GmbH) will present the topic "Autonomous driving - magic or sensoric?". Afterwards will be plenty of time for discussions. In addition, KA-RaceIng will show their latest electric racing car.

KITEuropean Student Card Survey

The European Student Card is the result of a set of standards that establishes a common European identity for higher education students. This survey aims to understand experiences with the use and management of Student Cards, as well as to gather some insights into knowledge and/or experience using the European Student Card. It should take no more than 10 minutes. This survey is voluntary, and  answers are completely anonymous and confidential: no personal data is collected, and the results will be analysed at an aggregated level.

 Communication training en français

Eucor at KIT organises a communication training in cooperation with the Foundation Centre Culturel Franco-Allemand Karlsruhe. The course adresses all KIT employees who would like to improve their French skills. Starting date: November 10. The course will take place on 6 dates of 90 minutes each, prerequisite: language level A2-B1.

Application deadline: november 6th.

 Eucor Seed Money call for proposals

The annual Eucor Seed Money funding instrument is open for applications: Applications are invited for innovative cross-border projects in the fields of research and innovation and in the field of teaching.

Applications are open until 29 September 2022 for researchers and teachers to receive funding of up to €60,000. All information on how to apply can be found on the website.

 MoU with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

On July 28 and 29, delegates of KIT and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki met for a workshop on the further development of their strategic partnership and exchanged ideas for potential collaboration. During the visit of Rector Nikos Papaioannous, AUTh and KIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding to intensify collaboration.

 TRENT Summer School

In order to nonetheless promote more activities between experts and students in Germany and China, the TRENT summer school takes place in July 18-22, 2022 and addresses different elements of the entire lake ecological system, from sedimentary, surface water, ecotoxicology, as well as water policies in both countries.

Erasmus35 Jahre Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is a European success story: On June 15, 2022, the European Union's best-known education program celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Fittingly for the birthday, a Zeitzeichen appears on WDR and on July 1, the program is honored with the issuance of a 2-euro commemorative coin in the euro zone.

 Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) Delegation visit at KIT

The delegation of the Université Grenoble Alpes represented by Professor Karine Samuel, Vice President Outreach and International Relations, Professor Eirini Sarigiannidou, Vice President of International Affairs Grenoble INP, Dr. Florence Lefebvre-Joud, Research Director CEA-LITEN and Elisa Glangeaud, Director of International Outreach and Delegate General Directorate for International and Territorial Development, came to KIT on May 2 nd to May 4th.

As international strategic partners, UGA and KIT want to reinforce joint research especially in the fields of Artificial lntelligence, Energy, as well as Entrepreneurship. Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) received last year the definitive Initiative of Excellence (IDEX) accreditation with seven other French universities.

Finally, the Tour Eucor is back! In Whitsun week, after forced breaks and shortening, the Tour Eucor 2022 took place regularly. The start was on 7 June 2022 in front of Karlsruhe Castle. From there, the other Eucor cities Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Basel and Freiburg were cycled through by 120 participants in 5 days.

We are thrilled with what the association and the volunteers have achieved! Matthias Mair, student at KIT, received one of the starting places and reported for us.

 Visit of the Ambassador of Armenia at KIT

On Friday, 22 April, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Germany, Viktor Yengibaryan, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Karlsruhe, Günther Pilarsky, visited KIT and got an overview of current projects of KIT in the field of energy and sustainability research. Also, they discussed the possibilities of cooperation and exchange of students and scientists between KIT and Armenian higher education and scientific institutions.

At the EPICUR partner university AMU in Poznan, the international festival "Universitas Cantat" takes place for the 15th time. This year, the KIT chamber choir under the direction of music director Nikolaus Indlekofer with 26 singers will contribute to the musical exchange of different university choirs.

 Information day on funding opportunities in the Upper Rhine region

On May 5, the event "Science Region Upper Rhine: Opportunities and funding instruments for bi- and trinational cooperation" will take place. This event is aimed at scientists and university administrators and is organized by the Trinational Metropolitan Region and the University of Strasbourg, in cooperation with the Franco-German University and Eucor.

The event will take place hybrid (online and in Strasbourg).

Französische Botschafterin in DeutschlandAnniversary Conference 25+5

The anniversary event organized by KIT and Arts et Métiers within the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union to celebrate 25 years of the KIT / Arts et Métiers double degree and 5 years of the French-German Institute for Industry of the Future took place in Metz, France, at the end of March. The French Ambassador to Germany Anne-Marie Descôtes praised the partnership as a successful model on a European level.

From March 2022, the popular Eucor advanced training will take place again.

On a total of 6 dates, French language skills can be improved and intercultural competences deepened in interactive language workshops. The training of the Centre for Cross-Border Skills, NovaTris of the Université de Haute-Alsace (UHA) is aimed at employees in administration, teaching and research of all Eucor universities.
