Strategic cooperation with UGA, CEA and INRIA Grenoble
In a joint Franco-German research and innovation agenda, France and Germany have set themselves the goal of further expanding and intensifying their cooperation in the fields of renewable energies and artificial intelligence, among others. In this context, KIT, as a center involved in the Helmholtz Energy Research Field, the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and the CEA Liten in Grenoble are exploring the potential for strategic cooperation between the institutions. The new forward-looking topics build on many years of cooperation in quantum technology between Grenoble and Karlsruhe. In addition, KIT has been cooperating with UGA for many years in the teaching of four double degree programs in physics, electrical engineering and information technology, industrial engineering and computer science.
Promising prospects have been identified for joint research and innovation activities in artificial intelligence, energy system design, hydrogen and electrochemical technologies, and battery research, to which the CEA and INRIA can also make important contributions alongside KIT and UGA. The Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) was honored in 2021 together with seven other French universities as part of the Excellence Initiative (IDEX).
