The STIPT program offers a 4‑month study stay at a renowned Taiwanese partner university plus several weeks of practical training at TSMC, a world‑leading semiconductor firm, starting in the summer semester 2027.

Applications are accepted from 15 May 2026 to 15 June 2026 (12 h).

The STIPT programme, a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), TU Dresden and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

Open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students enrolled at ForLab‑universities, TU9‑universities or the HAWtech University Alliance for Applied Sciences.

Funds: the programme fully covers tuition and programme fees, provides a monthly €700 stipend for living costs and a €1 500 travel allowance.

Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)

Your Gateway to the Centre of Innovation - A unique award to pursue a PhD in Science and Engineering in Singapore

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) provides the opportunity for you to sharpen research knowledge and learn from a diverse pool of researchers and industry experts. Through the collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Singapore’s Autonomous Universities – Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU), and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), international candidates can earn a PhD degree and conduct research at A*STAR and/or the universities.

Research Areas: Biomedical Sciences, Computing and Information Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Physical Sciences

Benefits of the Award: Funding Support for up to four years of PhD studies, Supervision by outstanding researchers at A*STAR and the universities, Current BSc/MSc students & graduates can apply, English PhD training

Singapore International PrePre-Graduate Award (SIGPA)

The Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) supports short-term research attachments for international students at A*STAR, giving you the unique opportunity to experience the vibrant scientific environment in A*STAR Research Institutes and Consortia, and work with distinguished and world-renowned researchers.

Research areas under the programme
fall broadly under three categories:
a. Computer and Information
Science
b. Biomedical Sciences
c. Physical Science and Engineering

Monthly stipend of S$1,500.

Students who are pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Computer and Information Science, Biomedical Science, Physical Science or Engineering related disciplines can apply now.

EPICResearch stay at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC)

Every year, KIT students get the opportunity to take part in a research exchange with the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). Research projects are diverse, but always cover areas of energy research. The program is aimed at students in degree programs with a focus on energy research: mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, technical economics, energy, electrical or information technology, civil engineering, biological or chemical engineering.

 

The MINTernship Program is sponsored by the Reinhard Frank-Foundation and co-funded by KIT-Foundation.

 

Application:

The application deadline for a research stay in 2023 has expired.

The application round for a research stay in 2024 will start in October 2023.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers bachelor‑level students in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, earth sciences, computer science and related disciplines (e.g., medicine) the opportunity to undertake a research stay anywhere in the world.
Research internships take place during the lecture‑free summer period. A scholarship helps cover living expenses.

Application deadlines
Worldwide: end of November
Canada: mid‑September  (special track for Canada)

Internship period
Duration: 6 weeks – 3 months
Earliest start date: 1 June 

Note: The Canadian track follows a separate schedule.

CERN, world's largest center for particle physics, offers students the opportunity to pursue a 4 to 12 month research stay. The program is especially aimed at students from the following departments: computer science, robotics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, process engineering, applied physics or civil engineering. The stay can be used for research only or for writing a thesis.
