Corona Emergency Aid for International Researchers at KIT

BeihilfeJosh Appel

Some International Researchers of KIT are in a financial emergency due to the pandemic because for example their doctorate has been delyed and their scholarship or employment contract has expired and cannot be extended. These researchers can now apply to the International Scholars and Welcome Office (IScO) for a Corona emergency aid of up to 1200 euros per month.  This aid is financed from the internationalization funds of the Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg.

Applications can be submitted for three or maximal six months. The earliest possible month for payment of the grant is October 2020.

International Researchers of KIT who do not receice any further emergency aid from third-party funding agencys or income for the applied period are eligible to apply.

Selection criteria: Proof of a financial emergency caused through an end of the scholarship or employment during the doctoral studies at KIT.

The amount of the financial aid will be based on your financial situation during the last three months before the application is submitted and, thus, on proof of financial distress (for example, loss of income from part-time work). Proof of financial difficulties must be provided in the form of up-to-date bank statements.

The approval of the Corona emergency aid is decided by an allocation commission at INTL.

Funding is based on the guidelines for the award of qualification, research, and mobility grants at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

There is no entitlement to Corona emergency aid.
