Panel discussion of the working group "Dealing with Discrimination" at the international weeks against racism

 KIT

On March 24, 2023, the Working Group "Dealing with Discrimination" of the International Office contributed for the first time to the International Weeks against Racism in Karlsruhe 2023. During the panel discussion titled #UsToo - KIT Reflects on Racism, the head of DE International Affairs, Dr. Klaus Rümmele, got into a conversation about racism at KIT with two students and a PhD student as well as Prof. Caroline Robertson - von Trotha. They exchanged views on what discriminatory experiences people had to face on campus and in the city due to their origin, skin color, language, and other characteristics, and what this did to them. In a lively and open dialogue, they also brought together many different aspects and starting points for changing the situation. Thus, the panel discussion gave an important impulse and set the signal that the whole KIT has to be sensitized for this topic and that the reflection process has to be continued on how KIT wants to position itself in the future with regard to dealing with the topic of racism.
