Visit of a delegation of the Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

From 24.-26.September 2018, a delegation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) headed by its Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. XI Zhanwen, visited KIT. The aim of the visit was to consolidate the strategic partnership with KIT, which has existed since 2015, and to sign a MoU on environment and environmental technology.

During the stay at KIT, the delegation held a number of expert discussions, mainly with the Institute of Applied Geosciences (AGW) and the Institute of Functional Interfaces (IFG). Particularly in the field of environmental sciences, both sides intend to work together more intensively. This intention was then recorded in the MoU between KIT and NJUST and signed by KIT's Vice President for Innovation and International, Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Hirth and the Vice President for International Affairs of NJUST, Prof. XI Zhanwen. Both parties agreed to promote joint technology research, development and application activities. The exchange among scientists, students and administrative staff continues to be welcomed and supported.

In addition to the above activities, the delegation visited a large research facility - AIDA (Aerosol Interaction and Dynamics in the Atmosphere) - at KIT. Apart from environmental science, KIT has been cooperating very closely with NJUST in the field of nanotechnology for many years. In 2013, the Herbert Gleiter Institute of Technology was founded as a joint research institution of both universities at NJUST.
