Keynote and discussion: Diversity in the lecture hall? Counteracting discrimination at universities | DAAD Prize
Thursday, May 08, 2025, 17:00-18:30
KIT Senate Hall, Engelbert-Arnold Str. 2, 76131 Karlsruhe (Building 11.30), South Campus.
Topics such as anti-discrimination and diversity play a central role, especially at an international university like KIT. But how can anti-discrimination be promoted in concrete terms? What challenges do minorities face at a university and what solutions does Academia itself offer? How can cosmopolitanism be practiced at KIT and equal opportunities promoted, and where do we encounter everyday racism on campus?
The author and speaker Anna Mendel will talk about this in her keynote speech. Afterwards, we would like to discuss the topic “Diversity in the lecture hall? Discrimination at universities”.
Anna Mendel is an author and speaker who focuses on the topics of anti-racism, caring parenthood and body neutrality. Her goal is to create a fairer society by promoting inclusive thinking and supporting marginalized groups
The event is organized by the AG Anti-Racism und Anti-Discriminiation.

The German Academic Exchange Service Prize for Foreign Students (DAAD Prize) will also be awarded during the event.
