Delegation visit of the Danish Consul General to KIT

Karlsruhe, November 18, 2025 - The Danish Consul General Klaus Juel Werner and two of his staff members from the Royal Danish Consulate General in Munich visited KIT to learn about KIT's strengths and to explore cooperation potentials. The leading role of KIT in quantum sciences and technologies was the focus of the visit.

Prof. Dr. Matthieu Le Tacon and Prof. Dr. Mario Ruben presented KIT's research landscape in the field of quantum sciences and technologies in its great diversity to the visitors. To underline KIT's strong commitment to innovation transfer and entrepreneurship, a presentation on the KIT-Gründerschmiede by its director Thomas Neumann was then on the program. The insight into the activities in research and transfer in quantum sciences and technologies was complemented by the presentation and exchange with Dr. Iris Schwenk, co-founder of the successful spin-off HQS Quantum Simulations.

The reception of the delegation by Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth, Vice President Transfer and International Affairs, was the highlight of the visit and provided in-depth insights into the activities and objectives of KIT and the Danish Consulate General in Munich, where the Innovation Centre Denmark is also located. Finally, the participants of the meeting discussed with Consul General Klaus Juel Werner, Science and Innovation Attaché Marlis Erichsen and Innovation Advisor Gregor Locher concrete opportunities for cooperation to deepen the partnership between the two institutions.
