MoU with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

On July 28 and 29, delegates of KIT and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki met for a workshop on the further development of their institutional partnership. During the two-day visit, current projects funded by DAAD and HGF were presented. The partners informed about joint scientific projects and exchanged ideas on future potential collaboration. In the course of the visit, the Rector of AUTh Nikos Papaioannou and KIT Vice-President for Transfer and International Affairs Professor Hirth signed a Memorandum of Understanding on further intensification of collaboration between AUTh and KIT.

The MoU will help the partner universities expand their joint teaching, research, and transfer activities. For example, it is planned to develop a double-doctoral program for doctoral candidates to write their theses at both universities, spend research stays at AUTh and KIT, and receive two doctoral degree certificates. In addition, a double master’s program in environmental engineering was discussed.

Digitalization, sustainability, and medical technology were proposed as other collaboration areas. Both universities wish to push interdisciplinary collaboration of the humanities, social sciences, engineering, and natural sciences and to enhance dialog with society.
