EPICUR enters the next round of funding

The European university alliance EPICUR, in which KIT is one of nine partner universities from seven countries of the European Union, was successful in the new call for proposals from the European Commission as part of the "European Universities" initiative in the Erasmus+ program. The total budget of the alliance is 14.4 million euros, with the KIT accounting for about 2 million euros.

The university network has set itself the following goals:

  • to develop innovative teaching and learning opportunities
  • to embark on global problems with transdisciplinary programs
  • to advance the digital transformation, especially in teaching
  • to create a cross-university EPICUR campus with possible mobility.

EPICUR wants to enable and support a new generation of European citizens to tackle socially relevant problems constructively and sustainably. "With the prediction of Eucor as an associated partner, both alliances can now work side by side on the implementation of the knowledge quadrangle of research, teaching, innovation and transfer into society and thus use synergies," emphasizes Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth, Vice President for Transfer and International. Michael Zacherle, project manager of EPICUR at KIT, adds: "With the second funding phase, we are changing from the exemplary pilot project to a uniform anchoring of our offers".
