Visit of a Canadian Delegation from the Western University

On October 15, 2025, President Alan Shepard and Associate Vice-President Dave Muir from Western University (Canada) were welcomed at KIT.

Their visit is another important step towards strengthening the cooperation between Western University and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

During the visit, Thomas Hirth, KIT Vice-President for Transfer and International Affairs, and President Alan Shepard signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This step strengthens the strategic partnership between the two universities.

The talks focused on the development of a double degree Bachelor's program in engineering sciences. This initiative, led by Prof. Marc Hiller and Prof. Kai Furmans, included an afternoon working session on program design and support structures for international students.

A particular highlight was the visit to the KIT Energy Lab, where Richard Jumar and Michael Rubin gave impressive insights into the ongoing research on energy systems and Power-to-X technologies.
