Sustainable and Energy Efficient Buildings
 
Matt Thompson introduces alternative development models beyond neoliberal capitalism, such as degrowth and doughnut economics. He explores their implementation in cities like Zagreb and Amsterdam, where new municipal movements are experimenting. The lecture reflects on the differences between these models and their potential for wider adoption.
 
The lecture series is part of the EPICUR hubs and will take place at KIT in a hybrid format, whereby participants from partner universities can take part online. The Zoom link will be provided after registration.

Sustainable and Energy Efficient Buildings
 
Philipp Späth explores collaborative housing as an alternative to market-driven models, using examples like “Genova e.G.” and “Freiburg-Kleineschholz” to show how they offer inclusive, affordable, and sustainable housing. The lecture concludes with an outlook on how these models can be supported politically.
