Visit of Tsinghua University to KIT
From 19 to 21 January 2026, a delegation from Tsinghua University visited the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The aim of the visit was to further strengthen scientific cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, hydrogen, thermal energy, and solar technologies.
The program included several technical sessions and laboratory tours, among others at the KIT Energy Lab and various institutes of the KIT Energy Center. Key topics comprised energy system design, hydrogen technologies, thermal energy systems, as well as advanced materials and photovoltaics. In addition, relevant graduate schools were presented and opportunities for academic exchange were discussed.
A highlight of the visit was the meeting with KIT Vice President Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Oliver Kraft, and Vice President Transfer and International Affairs, Professor Dr. Thomas Hirth. During the meeting, future cooperation between the two institutions was discussed and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, providing the formal framework for further strategic collaboration.
The visit built on a previous stay by Professor Jiang at KIT in February of the previous year, during which the foundations for the cooperation had already been laid and the conclusion of an MoU had been agreed upon. The current delegation visit further specified and deepened this partnership.
