Applicants have to prove a sufficient knowledge of the English language. For KIT students, there are two options to do so:

  • TOEFL (internet-based) or
  • DAAD Certificate in combination with UTS English Language Proficiency Assessment Form (ELPA)

English language proficiency test scores are recognised by UTS provided they were obtained less than two years prior to application at UTS.

Short description of the institution

Kyoto University offers two incoming exchange programs:

1. Kyoto University International Education Program (KUINEP)

This program enables undergraduates from partner universities to study in English.

 

2. Kyoto University General Exchange (GE) Program (enrollment status: GEA or GESR)

In this program, students either take courses, mostly from the Kyoto University Faculties or Graduate Schools to which they are affiliated (as "General Exchange Special Auditors", or GEAs), or conduct research under academic supervisors without attending classroom lectures (as "General Exchange Special Research Students", or GESRs).

Undergraduates have to take 7 courses per semester. Graduate students are asked to take 4 courses per semester. Graduate students have also the possibility to stay without taking any courses lectured in a classroom and are able to do research. (Special Research Student Program).

Upon approval by the home university, students interested in the Special Research Student Program shall directly contact the provisional academic advisor under whom they wish to conduct their research and request the issuance of a letter of provisional acceptance.

Please note that competition for Computing and Economics modules at NUS remain high. Students are highly encouraged to be flexible in their module selection at NUS and to have back-ups.

 

Business and Law modules are not available. Therefore, students in Industrial Engineering and Management should prepare to focus on courses in Engineering.

Language requirements

English is the main language of instruction in NUS.

Applicants need a DAAD language certificate or TOEFL certificate for their application at IStO.

Academic requirements

Be a student of good standing at the home university with:

  • a minimum ‘B’ average grade or 70% average marks or ranking in the top one-third of the class;
  • no single grade below ‘C’

Additionally, each module entail it's own pre-requisites. Students are advised to find out more about each module to see if they fulfil the pre-requisites before applying. 

Other requirements 

Have successfully completed at least:

  • one semester of study at the home university upon application for the Exchange Programme
  • two semesters of study upon admission to the host university
Courses

Courses of level 2000 and 3000 (equivalent to 2- or 3-year undergraduate) are normally open for Exchange students.

Majority of the Level 4000 modules are reserved for graduating NUS students and have limited supply.

Level 5000 modules and above: These are graduate modules and are not offered to undergraduate students. (Those found in the module list are reserved for students coming under specific graduate exchange agreements.)

Students can refer to this list (updated yearly) of modules available for exchange students.

There are module restrictions to modules available for exchange students.

Module descriptions and time tables (updated in July or August)

Modules from the Department of Economics are extremely popular and cannot be guaranteed. Students should be choosing Levels 1000 to 3000 modules (available to Undergraduate applicants only).

Modules from Computing and Economics are very popular so students are encouraged to be as flexible as they can when it comes to module choice.

Business modules are not available.

The disciplines of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Music, Fine Arts, and MBA have restrictions when it comes to accepting exchange students.

  • Please note: due to a high number of applications, students who apply to SNU College Business Administration (CBA) might get rejected during the internal screening procedure of SNU. Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) applicants might get rejected due to lack of course capacity. 
  • Undergraduate applicants for Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering must have earned at least 15 credits in CSE-related courses (one credit corresponds to 15 lecture hours or 30 lab hours). This must be explicitly shown on the official transcript; if not, additional proof must be presented by the student.
  • Students in Industrial Engineering at KIT are therefore highly recommended to focus on courses in Engineering.

  • Other restrictions

Participating campuses Exchange students are invited to study at Gwanak (main) campus.

Fields of study

The Department of Economics is under the College of Social Sciences at NTU. Courses related to economics can also be found in other departments (e.g. College of Management).


GMBA required courses /core courses are only open to GMBA degree students, whereas most GMBA elective courses are open to exchange students with the authorization codes given by course instructors. 
All EMBA and EIMBA courses are not open to exchange or visiting students.

Participating campuses NTU main campus locates in the middle of Taipei city. Most exchange students take courses here. Taipei is rich in leisure and recreation, cultural arts, heritage sites, and other attractions, it enjoys a superb geographical position and traffic environment. Upmarket shopping malls, multistory electronics centers and modern-traditional fusion dining are all connected by an MRT system regularly voted the best in the world. Taipei is convenience defined, with more 7-Elevens per capita than any place on Earth.

Courses at NTU are mainly taught in English or Chinese.

Students should have B1 level certificate (according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference); or TOEFL equivalent) for English or Chinese.

Baden-Württemberg-Programme

Das KIT ist Teil des Baden-Württembergischen Universitätskonsortiums und nimmt an diesen Kooperationen teil. Damit wird KIT-Studierenden ein Aufenthalt an einer der im Verbund teilnehmenden Partnerhochschulen bzw. -campus im Ausland ermöglicht.

Eine Besonderheit der Landesprogramme besteht darin, dass eine Abstimmung der Platzierung der Baden-Württembergischen Studierenden erfolgt, so dass die Plätze unter den Baden-Württembergischen Kandidaten bestmöglich verteilt werden können. Besonders wichtig ist daher, dass Sie Flexibilität mitbringen, was die Platzierung sowie die Kurse und die Studienniveau-Einstufung angeht. Ein Landesprogramm eignet sich daher nicht für Kandidaten, die nur an eine Universität bzw. einen Campus möchten und alle anderen Universitäten bzw. Campus ausschließen.

Business: Aufgrund der Restriktivität der Business Schools sind Platzierungen in Business am schwierigsten, wohingegen Platzierungen in Economics oder Engineering leichter sind. Keine Plätze mehr im Bereich Business an der UConn. Auch an den anderen Unis sind Business-Platzierungen zunehmend schwierig.

Fine Arts and Statistics courses are available on a limited basis.

Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Social Work, Medicine and Education courses are not available.
