ITAS Yearbook 2018

Scarcity of Resources, Digitization, Converging Infrastructures, and Long-term Governance of Technical Change: These are the topics covered by ITAS in its Yearbook – for the first time in the English language.

The Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) investigates scientific and technological developments with a focus on their systemic relationships and impacts. Research covers ethical, ecological, economic, social, politico-institutional, and cultural questions.

The ITAS Yearbook 2018 presents a number of examples. The Institute introduces itself and some of its solution approaches to big challenges of society in the English language. Among the topics covered are the scarcity of resources, progressing digitization and the associated problems when accessing data, the interconnection of various infrastructures, and the necessity of government decisions that are reasonable in the long term. The clear mind maps and plausible explanations contained in the book make such complex topics understandable and tangible also for those who are no experts in the field. In addition, ITAS provides insights into its current research activities and projects.
