In order to receive the erasmus funding, you have to submit the Certificate of Departure to your home university. Please upload the Certificate of Departure together with a document that confirms your departure (e.g. flight ticket, train ticket or a confirmation of the last examination date at KIT) in one PDF in Mobility Online. You can either use the template of your home university or the KIT version of the document. The documents can be signed earliest two days before your departure date.

Before you leave KIT, you should de-register. As you will need a de-registration certificate (“Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung”) when you want to study in a German university again.

Please go to the webpage of the Studierendenservice (SLE) and download the Application for de-registration (English).

Complete the form with your personal data and with the following information:

  • The reason for de-registration is: 09 Other reason (Erasmus mobility)
  • Please sign and put the date on page one and two (Declaration)

Then collect the following signatures:

  • International Students Office (IStO-Secretary, Building 50.20, 1st Floor, Room 106)
    General opening hours: Monday, Wednesday-Friday
    9.00 am - 12.00 am
  • the KIT-library

Then hand in the form to the Studierendenservice (SLE) or send it via "Contact Form" to SLE.

Only if you are no longer in Karlsruhe and need our assistance to finish your de-registration process at KIT, please also download, complete and sign the letter of authorization (Vollmacht für die Durchführung der Exmatrikulation) and send it to us. Then we will be able to forward your document to the KIT-library and to the SLE. Please send both documents to us by e-mail. You can also ask a friend to do it for you.

Your KIT e-mail account (starting with u****) will be deactivated six months after your de-registration at KIT. Thus, in the next six months you still have the access to the Study Portal at KIT to download:

  • the de-registation certificate (“Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung”)
  •  your Transcript of Records (ToR)/Grade Table

Before your departure, you should notify the local authority of your residential town that you will leave Germany. You can do this easily at the “Bürgerbüro” responsible for the district you live in. Detailed information about the services of Karlsruhe's public authorities can be obtained at 115, Karlsruhe's public authorities' hotline.

In order to transfer the credits you've achieved at KIT to your home university, you should download your transcript of records from the Study Portal at KITYou can find it under "Certificates".

Your access to the Study Portal at KIT is still active for six months after your de-registration at KIT.

If you no longer have access to the Study Portal, you must contact the SLE (Studierendenservice) yourself, e.g. by using the "contact form" at https://www.sle.kit.edu/wirueberuns/studierendenservice_erasmus.php.

If your grades have not been published completely, please contact your departmental coordinator or the examiner.
