Presentation of the 'International Excellence Award of KIT' and the 'Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation'
KIT, Campus Süd, Gebäude 11.30, Senatsaal (Engelbert-Arnold-Str. 2, 76131 Karlsruhe)

Prof. Dr. Ron Kikinis (B. Leonard Holman Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and founding director of the Surgical Planning Laboratory (SPL), Department of Radiology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston) will receive this year’s "International Excellence Award of KIT" and the "Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation." KIT is thus honoring the internationally recognized expert in the fields of medical image processing, image-guided therapy, and biomedical informatics. In addition to the research visit, the award includes a scholarship for accompanying early-career researchers from the awardee’s group, lasting up to twelve months, as well as funding of up to 50,000 euros for carrying out a research project at the hosting institute of KIT. The award is part of the International Excellence Grants (IEG), an initiative within KIT's successful excellence university concept. The goal is to promote international collaborations in cutting-edge research and to attract international researchers to KIT.

The award ceremony is open to the public; registration by email to elena.pfeifer@kit.edu by February 5, 2026, is required.
