[NEW DATE] Introduction to project management in science and technology for postdocs (1.5-days)
Workshop
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
Bldg. 50.41, seminar room 145/146
Dr. Petra Pandur (Leadership Sculptor)

The workshop will be held in English and run for 1.5 days, on October 5, 2020, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and October 6, 2020, 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Research has always been project-focused. However, the increasing complexity of projects and project consortia means that old approaches are no longer enough. Modern project management allows you to get the most out of your resources and to perform more research with fewer resources, at lower stress levels.

This workshop is highly interactive and allows you to apply the concepts, models and tools of project management directly to your project. In addition, you will identify the changes you want to make so that your work is more effective and enjoyable.

In this 1.5 day workshop you will learn:

- To develop the goals and scope of your project,
- The importance of the quality – time – cost triad,
- How to define milestones, work packages and their interdependencies,
- The simple trick that changes your project from being late to being early,
- To handle the main communication processes effectively: report writing and meetings, and
- To clarify who does what and by when.

The workshop will be held in English and run for 1.5 days, on October 5, 2020, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and October 6, 2020, 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

When registering for this event, please also note the following:
Allocation of places: Given that we consider this topic particularly relevant for postdoctoral researchers (who are members of KHYS), such individuals will have priority for attending. Doctoral researchers, however, can still register and will be offered a spot if not all places are taken by postdocs.
Contingency-planning: This training event is currently planned as an in-person event. However, we are also committed to holding it even if the current restrictions were to continue into autumn, by either adopting a different format (i.e. webinar) or by switching to an alternative date.
