The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is one of the winners in the competition "Research Alumni Strategies" 2014: With its idea of the project for the integration of former international visiting scholars in its culture of innovation, KIT has convinced the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Research Alumni are invented to act as ambassadors of KIT worldwide. Research Alumni can benefit from special offers and privileged access to the knowledge network of KIT.

Research Alumni Conference in Chile

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is one of the winners of the competition for Research Alumni Meetings Abroad. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has approved funding of a   meeting of research alumni with current researchers of the KIT in Santiago de Chile in November 23-24, 2018. The meeting will focus on the topic of renewable energies.

With this project, the KIT will continue the Research Alumni Initiative started successfully in 2014. Collaboration with former international guest researchers has a long tradition in the International Affairs (INTL) Business Unit and is an important element of INTL’s international activities. Research alumni know and have come to appreciate the KIT from their own experience and can act as important multipliers and ambassadors of the KIT as a location of research.

In Santiago de Chile, international scientists who previously worked at the KIT will exchange their most recent findings and expertise on a globally important topic and discuss further developments in this field with colleagues who are presently conducting research at the KIT.

The Research Alumni Meeting in Santiago de Chile is a joint project coordinated by the International Scholars and Welcome Office (IScO) together with the  Regional Strategies and Information Section, both INTL, and the Alumni Section of the Innovation and Relations Management (IRM) Business Unit. On the scientific side, the Chile Cluster of the KIT and the Institute of Regional Science (IfR) are involved. The meeting will be an excellent opportunity to enhance the visibility of the KIT and its energy research expertise in Latin America.
