IScO‘s excursion to premium wine-tasting
We ride by train to Wissembourg (Alsace, France) where we take a walk (approximately 1h) via the historical old town of Wissembourg and croos by foot the German border. In the town Schweigen (Palatinate Germany) we visit the German Wine-Gate (“Deutsches Weintor”), which marks the south end of the German Wine Road and leads though the Palatinate whine region. Our destination is the Winery “Friedrich Becker” in Schweigen, a premium vintner and member of the Predicate Wine Estates which represents the highest category of quality wines produced in Germany. After our arrival we will experience an exclusive guided high class wine-tasting including several local produced red and white wines.
After the whine-tasting there is the opportunity to visit one of the unique traditional restaurants in town such as the „Winery Jülg“, where local gastronomic specialties are offered such as „Sauerkraut“ (Cabbage) or „Saumagen“ (stuffed pig‘s stomach).
Where? Meeting at Karlsruhe Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) -in the main hall in front of the large electronic departures display.
Do I need to register? Yes please, as we have a maximum number of participants for the whine-tasting of 20 persons. Please register stating your name, nationality and KIT Institute by October 25th here.
The train ride is about 10 EUR (depending on groupe size). All other costs beside the guided wine-tasting (food and drinks etc.) will have to be covered by yourself.
