Dear researcher, We cordially invite you to this event on Wednesday, 4 March at 3 p.m. at Lectur Room A and B, building 30.95 (Audimax), Campus South. You are part of a highly skilled and mobile workforce. Especially due to your mobility, questions and uncertainties may arise when it comes to your social security and old-age pension provision. Every researcher with a working contract pays a contribution towards the statutory social security system, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV). In addition to the DRV, all employees at KIT are insured in an occupational pension scheme which is provided by the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL). In order for you to understand and plan your pension, you’ll need adequate information on this very diverse topic. The staff at the International Scholar and Welcome Office (IScO) frequently receive questions about the wheres and the hows when it comes to pension in general, and concerning rights and benefits during your stay in Germany. Therefore, IScO has invited experts from both the statutory (DRV) and supplementary pension scheme (VBL) to shed light on this topic and how it will affect you. The DRV and the VBL represent the German pension landscape. In addition to the presentation of these two schemes, you’ll be introduced to an information portal called findyourpension. This website deals with various pension providers within the different European countries and provides concise information regarding this theme. The information session aims to answer questions such as:  Do I qualify for a pension in Germany?  What pension benefits can I expect?  Will I still be entitled to collect a pension from Germany once I leave the country?  If I do not qualify for a pension, how can I have my contributions reimbursed?  What do I need to do in order to collect my pension on retirement? After the event, short individual consultations with the DRV and the VBL are offered (15-20 min). Please register online by 26.02.2015 via Scholar ∂does-not-exist.intl kit edu.
