UNSAM’s vice rector Prof. Dr. Carlos Frasch appointed Prof. Dr. Johannes Blümer “Science Ambassador of the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM)” in Buenos Aires. Prof. Blümer has strongly promoted the cooperation with UNSAM in Argentina, especially in the last 10 years. In 2013, he received an honorary doctorate from UNSAM. Now he has additionally received the title of "Science Ambassador" from UNSAM, which entitles him to act on behalf of UNSAM at any German science and technology organization.
This honor was granted due to Prof. Blümer’s ongoing commitment to the cooperation between KIT and UNSAM, and between Germany and Argentina in general: Prof. Blümer strongly supported the international Pierre Auger Observatory, a large-scale experimental facility and research project located in Argentina, developed the Double Doctoral degree in Astrophysics (DDAp) KIT – UNSAM, which is linked to the Helmholtz International Research School for Astroparticle Physics and Enabling Technologies (HIRSAP), and initiated the Strategic Partnership UNSAM-KIT (SPUK). Prof. Blümer has been Distinguished Senior Fellow at KIT since October 2020.
