Tuesday, 25 September 2018, 10:15-11:15
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
Bldg. 30.96, room 006

When completing their doctorate, many young researchers also start thinking about their future career options. To assist postdocs at KIT in making an informed decision about their next professional steps, this lecture provides an overview of the various career options both within and outside academia. It thus introduces about the most important forms of employment in academia (e.g. Junior Professorship, Junior Research Group Leader, Professorship) and also informs about selected funding opportunities for postdocs. Furthermore, the specific career options and available support measures for postdocs at KIT will be presented.

As a follow-up to this lecture, the Young Investigator Network (YIN) will introduce itself. YIN is the network of independent junior research group leaders at KIT. YIN represents the interests of its target group, promotes networking among its members and contributes to their leadership skills by offering such training.

This lecture is open to doctoral researchers at KIT (KHYS members).

The lecture will be held in English.
