Research Alumni

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is one of the winners in the competition "Research Alumni Strategies" 2014: With its idea of the project for the integration of former international visiting scholars in its culture of innovation, KIT has convinced the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Research Alumni are invented to act as ambassadors of KIT worldwide. Research Alumni can benefit from special offers and privileged access to the knowledge network of KIT.

You are an international scientist who has conducted research at KIT as a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow or at an advanced career stage and have then continued in the meantime, your career in your home country or another country? Or are you currently on a research stay at KIT as a foreign guest researcher, a doctoral canidate or post doc? Then we invite you into our research alumni network - a possibility to remain closely connected with KIT. We also look forward to your assistance, particularly in conveying the diverse possiblities of study and research at KIT. Please contact us.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Visits to selected institutions at KIT with a focus on innovation
Visit at the CIE Cube

On 25th February 2015 within the framework of the Research Alumni Initiative the International Scholars and Welcome Office visited the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s Cube with a group of international scientists to learn more about founding a startup. Dr. Gerda Frank and Mr. Arturo Morales of the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation gave an overview of scientific approaches to founding new companies. The visitors then had the opportunity to ask questions in an open discussion. This event was the start of a cycle of visits of selected institutions at the KIT which focus on innovation. International scientists thus have the possibility to inform themselves about the KIT’s infrastructure

International Campus Life
International Campus Life offers a variety of activities, whether you are an international scientist, lecturer, graduate student, post doc or doctoral cadidate, or just have an interest in experiencing the internationality at KIT. Here you can find an overview of the opportunities and events that may be of interest to you. Learn about other offers and events that will take place at KIT from our calendar. You can inform yourself about integrative measures at KIT: the various events, such as international evenings, excursions, regulars’ tables, international BBQs etc..

The International Scholars and Welcome Office is the central contact for international researchers mobility at KIT and advises international scientists, who come for a scientific activity of the KIT, as well as KIT scientists who want to go abroad to conduct research or are returning from an overseas stay.

The Humboldt Regional Group Karlsruhe-Pforzheim promotes the exchange of Humboldtians with each other and provides mutual assistance, e.g. for the integration of international scientists and reintegration of German Humboldtians and dialogue with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and other Humboldt associations. Several times a year the Regional Group Karlsruhe-Pforzheim organizes scientific presentations by top scientists from different fields to the interested public.
