Teaching Assistantships for Doctoral Candidates from abroad
(1-5 months, workload about 5 hours per week)
In the context of the DAAD-STIBET-program, we offer teaching assistantships for doctoral candidates from abroad carrying out their doctoral projects at KIT.
The aim is to integrate doctoral candidates into their chair´s teaching activities in order to allow them to experience teaching firsthand which can enhance individual career perspectives. Applications are possible at any stage of the PhD-project.
The teaching assistantships (student assistant) are arranged in accordance with DAAD-guidelines. The overall workload adds up to 5 hours per week (e.g. 2 hours teaching and 3 hours for preparing the lessons and for subsequent tasks) which corresponds to comparable workloads of regular student assistants (Wissenschaftliche Hilfskräfte).
Type of funding: Teaching Assistantship.
Duration of funding: 1 - 5 months (depending on teaching activities).
Monthly rate of funding: Ca. 400,-- € pre-tax per month.
Application Deadline: Any time.
Applications are accepted from doctoral fellows who are currently receiving university funding or from doctoral candidates who do not receive any funding at all. Doctoral candidates funded by a third-party scholarship are not entitled to apply.
- Application letter by the supervisor confirming and explaining the content of the intended teaching activity and its integration into the chair´s curriculum,
- CV of the candidate,
- For doctoral candidates who started at KIT after 1st January 2015: registration at KHYS
- For doctoral candidates who started well before that date: official letter of acceptance from their department (Fakultät)
