Brexit - und jetzt? Netzwerkveranstaltung und Workshops am 19.10.2018 in Stuttgart

Freitag, 19. Oktober 2018, 10:00-16:00
Stuttgart, Haus der Wirtschaft, Willi-Bleicher-Str. 19, Bertha-Benz-Saal

In June 2016 the United Kingdom decided in a referendum to leave the European Union, and the British government subsequently submitted a letter to the European Union notifying them about its decision to leave in March 2017. The consequence is the planned end of the EU membership on 29th March 2019. Brexit entails major uncertainty concerning financing and cooperation in science, the future participation of the UK in EU projects and also concerning the employment status of thousands of scientists.

The first details concerning the continuation of EU projects have already been determined. But what about the funding of new projects after Brexit in March 2019? What are the possibilities to maintain existing contacts and to fund new cooperation projects?

In order to reduce the uncertainty, to strengthen the ties with the United Kingdom and to explore future possibilities for cooperation for the time after Brexit, the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg in cooperation with Baden-Württemberg International is organising a one-day networking event in Stuttgart on 19th October 2018.

1. Target audience

The event is aimed at the following target groups: presidents/rectors and vice-rectors, heads of the International Office, heads of communication and PR or marketing as well as directors/coordinators of studies or directors of research projects at universities/research institutions with pre-existing cooperation agreements with UK/Baden-Württemberg or interested in establishing cooperation with UK/Baden-Württemberg.

2. Objectives of the event

(1) Creating networks between interested parties from science, research and higher education from the UK and Baden-Württemberg

(2) Providing information about future participation in EU programmes

(3) Providing information about suitable funding instruments within national or international funding programmes

(4) Identifying cooperation partners

(5) Initiating concrete projects for the future.

3. Sustainability

An additional event is planned for the final stages of the Brexit negotiations in the spring of 2019.
